The Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board (UKPCB) is a statutory Organization constituted under the section 4 of Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 to implement Environmental laws and rules within the jurisdiction of Uttarakhand.

Our smart approach

The UKPCB came into existence on 1st May 2002 and functions through its Head Office at Dehradun along with its 4 Regional Offices, Dehradun, Roorkee, Haldwani & Kashipur. UKPCB has always endeavored to strike a rational balance between economic growth and environmental conservation. The Board has been entrusted with the powers and functions under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1974. Subsequently the implementation of Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Cess Act, 1977; Air (Prevention and Control Of Pollution) Act, 1981; Environment Protection Act (1986) and the Public Liability Insurance Act, 1991 was also entrusted to the State Board.
